EEVF DONATION

Each year the Energy Venture Forum will seek to make a donation from any surplus made at the European Energy Venture Fair. It will only donate to non-profit organizations that aim to use the donation to further an energy related project, preferably in a developing country and where we have strong references on the persons responsible to ensure the money is applied appropriately. Past donations include:

EEVF 2010
The Energy Venture Forum will continue its support of ADES and donate EUR 5'000 to the Solar Energy Foundation. ADES is a non-governmental organisation and a non-profit organisation, producing solar cookers in Madagascar and encouraging the use of renewable energy.

EEVF 2009
In association with the Ashden Awards, the Energy Venture Forum donated EURO 10,000 to the Solar Energy Foundation, a charitable organisation based in Germany established 2006. In total, 1,500 solar systems will be installed, replacing the paraffin lamps which are presently used. As a result, 7,500 people will be provided with a clean and effective source of light and thus the possibility for better education and development. It is the largest solar project in East Africa up to date.

EEVF 2008
In 2008, the Energy Venture Forum donated EURO 10,000 to an ADRES sponsored rural electrification project in Madagascar. The Association pour le Développement de l’Energie Solaire Suisse-Madagascar (ADES) is managing the project that will provide a basic building and house electric network and micro generation for the village of Saint Augustin. The village is located on the west coast of Madagascar and is a fishing village with about 15,000 inhabitants. The purpose of the project is to reduce deforestation in the region around the village. The installation will cost about EURO 70,000 in total and comprises of PV units, micro wind power, battery storage, DC electrical network, water pumps and some desalination. The project should be complete in the first quarter of 2009.
